Spread some cheer, buy a t-shirt and get your donation matched!

Get your Jolly on and raise dollars for families in need at the most wonderful time of the year! We know it's not even turkey time, but we don't care!! It's 2020 so all the rules are off. And let's be honest, we could all use a bit of holiday cheer to lift our spirits. For the season, we have a couple of ways for you to take part in helping out! This is a long post, but reading is good for you, keep it up by scrolling down.

R4R T-Shirt Fundraiser

Have you been naughty or nice this year? It doesn't matter, no rules remember!! R4R has created the perfect way to get you an express pass onto the Nice List. It says so, right on the front of the shirt. Some of us may need a spot on the list more than others. You know who you are. And if you've been a good boy or girl, you've already secured your place. Keep it and help out a local family!

In a normal year we would be at the mall wrapping gifts to raise dollars. 2020 is anything but normal. We know you would rather see our smiling faces and get expertly wrapped gifts. Since we can't make that happen, get your own personal wrapping that shows off your good standing with the big guy in the red suit! Avoid the elves, they bite.

All proceeds from T-shirt sales go directly to helping local families in the Mahoning Valley. We even use a local company to print the shirts. Thanks Artistics of Warren, OH! Aren't we all awesome (that means you too)! Check out our store to get your personal wrapping.

Facebook and GivingTuesday - Happy Non-Profit Day to us!!

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

If you are an amazing person, and we know you are, you will be able to have your donation boosted by Facebook on December 1st, 2020. This is a really big deal. Here's how it works:

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving. To help raise awareness of charitable causes and encourage donors’ generosity, Facebook will match $7 million USD in qualifying donations made on Facebook during GivingTuesday.

How matching works

Matches are made on a first-come, first-served basis and will continue until the $7M USD fund has been met.

Did we mention this happens on December 1st, 2020?

First: Matching 100% of the first $2M

For the first $2million, Facebook will match 100% of donations made to qualifying fundraisers. For example, if you donate $10, Facebook will also donate $10.

Second: Matching 10% after

For the remaining $5M, Facebook will match 10% of donations made to qualifying fundraisers. For example, if you donate $10, Facebook will donate $1.

. . . takes place on 12/1/2020

Understand match caps

Facebook will match donations to qualifying nonprofits up to:

  • $100,000 USD total donations matched per nonprofit

  • $20,000 USD in qualifying donations per donor

When matching will start

Matching begins on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 8am Eastern Time.

(There's that date again...and the time as well!).

Facebook will continue matching qualifying donations to nonprofits until the $7M match runs out.

Who is eligible for matching

Any US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization eligible to receive donations on Facebook may be matched.

See what we mean, it is seriously a big deal.

So, repeat after me: "On December 1st, 2020 at 8am ET, I will be awake and on my computer, smartphone, tablet or similar device. I will be logged onto Facebook and at the Rock4Reason GivingTuesday page. I will be amped up on breakfast food and caffeine and ready to smash the donate button to make sure my dollars make it into the 100% match batch. I am an incredible person and I want to help local families when they need it most!"

It's true, you are incredible!! And we couldn't do what we do without your generosity. Thank you so much and Happy Holidays!

Stay safe out there,

The Rock4Reason team.

Rock4Reason is 100% volunteer. This ensures that all money raised goes directly back to local families in the Mahoning Valley that are battling cancer or are coping with terminal illness. If you, or someone you know, needs assistance, contact us through our 4Support page.

A Virtual Beer Mile fundraiser you say? I am not familiar with this, please explain.

I like beer, challenges and donating to help families in need...cause I rock! You do rock! Get a group of friends, grab your favorite local brew, maybe throw on a costume and plot out your course. It's time to chug and run our 1st Annual Virtual Beer Mile!

Here is the story of the Beer Mile: In the vast world of extreme sports, there exists a sub-culture at its heart best known as "digestive athletics." The most famous, glorified, respected, and celebrated of all the events of this underworld is the Beer Mile. The foundation of any true beer mile is built upon two things: drinking beer and running a mile. The most common format of the beer mile requires a single participant to drink a full-sized beer, run a quarter mile, then repeat the process three times. This results in the consumption of four beers and the running of four quarter miles (hence the beer mile). The entire process is timed. The total time is often used as a measuring stick of competency. Since we have cancelled all of our in-person events during this crisis, we have decided to hold our inaugural Beer Mile virtually.

Be a part of something stoooopid crazy fun this year and then join us in person when we can compete together next year!

Check out all the official Beer Mile Rules here: https://www.beermile.com/rules

Be Creative! Have an itch to compete in your favorite Batman costume? Spongebob? One of the Avengers? Rick and Morty? Cosplay character? Lime green body suit? Just be yourself, you can do anything you want! After your run, take your race pics and finish time to www.rock4reason.org. Post your best shot on our race page (no nudes please) and your race time on our leader-board which will be up and running at the start of the event on August 15th.

What is a Virtual 5K Charity Run? I'm not a drinker or I just don't want to chug and run. But I am an awesome person who wants to donate to a great cause while challenging myself. Excellent! You're right, you are an awesome person!

Choose our Virtual 5K instead! Head to a local park, school, around your neighborhood or 125x up and down your driveway. Compete with your friends, family or run it solo, the choice is yours.

There's not even an official starting line. That's the kind of flexibility offered by virtual races, a new trend in the running community. Runners who sign up for a virtual race register online and simply choose their own starting line, whether it's a treadmill, a neighborhood street or your own backyard! It may seem strange to traditional runners, but race organizers say the virtual race is a great option for those who want convenience. It's unclear when virtual racing made the leap online to a mass audience. Some race directors say it evolved from runners’ requests to participate in physical races from afar. Regardless, in recent years virtual racing has exploded in popularity, mostly because of its flexibility. Complete either the Beer Mile or the 5K (or both!) anywhere you choose between August 15th and September 30th. Don't forget to go to www.rock4reason.org and post your time on our race page leader-board and send us your favorite race day pics too! The leader-board will be available at the start of the event on August 15th.

Every dollar raised goes directly to helping families in the Mahoning Valley. We are all volunteer and we like it that way!
